12th Street Community Garden Project

The school year's
over for Parkside NIGHT OWLS.
Students................ summer break is here, right?
Yet over @ the
"12th Street Community Garden Project,"

the site has undergone dramatic changes!

Back in March the plot looked like this.......
......while many plants were "started" indoors.

Thanks to Hartz Lawn Care for
coming to help till the soil for the project!

One early task was designing, building,

 and then painting garden boxes.
Now there are flowers in some beds
and vegetables or herbs in the others.
The 12th Street Community Garden location?
Find them @ the intersection of Twelfth &
Lexington Streets in Lawrenceville, Illinois.

You're invited to come, have fun &
get involved with the project this summer!

Look for announcements on Facebook @
12th Street Community Garden Project
Call 1-618-943-5326 for
 more details & information or

E-Mail them:
12thstcommunitygarden@gmail.com

The "spirit" of this endeavor is to grow
vegetables for The Senior Citizen's Center,
and make pizza for children who get involved.

Is this Farmer Brown and one
of his faithful helpers, Angela?

Now we all know what our NIGHT OWL
Vista's been doing since the school year
ended earlier in the week, at Parkside.
Great job Mr. Lehman!

From NIGHT OWLS to this garden?
Both are signs you "believe in tomorrow!"

It's a Wrap

Thanks to Erika Reidy for helping
NIGHT OWLS complete the final evening
of the after-school with a dramatic reading.

“I went to sleep with gum in my mouth and now there's gum in my hair and when I got out of bed this morning I tripped on the skateboard and by mistake I dropped my sweater in the sink while the water was running and I could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.”

Throughout the year, many
volunteers & mentors have
made a positive impact
 upon our youngsters!

#ThankYou
The strength of any community lies
in the dedication of willing hearts & hands.

Sunday Salute

"Your kids watch you for a living.
It's their job; it's what they do.
That's why it's so important to try
your best to be a good role model."  ~James Lehman
